Star-trek--deep space nine.
Hello my lotters hope you are all well, as a fan of star trek (all of them) watching them all every day, on deep space nine i believe that the station in the beginning is at the side of bajora but now when i watch it i cannot seem to see the earth like planet i mean it was literally on its doorstep, is there something that i am missing like where is it gone? can anyone answer this as it has baffled me. thanks.

Star Trek has been around for many years from the original in the 1960's to the latest feature film. Which of the TV series is your favorite, Star Trek, Star Trek the Next Generation, Star Trek Deep Space Nine, Star Trek Vogager or Star Trek Entperprise. Who is your favorite character from your choice and what made them so outstanding.
ST:DS9 - Trials and Tribble-ations: ''Retrofilming'' (Audio and Video)
I've seen Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's episode "Trials and Tribble-ations", and it was rated very highly like one of the favorite episodes among Trekkies like me. But somehow, I felt that something was still missing, as though it needed that "classic touch" that would make it even more of a fan favorite. That's when my mind came up with an idea to give it a nostalgic, TOS feeling, even withing DS9. I call it "Retrofilming".Instead of discarding obsolete technology and techniques just because of a newer technology when filming TV and movies, they ought to keep the old technology for use in flashbacks or memories. So for example, instead of discarding those old NBC TV studio cameras they used for TOS as obsolete technology, they could've fixed it, repaired it, and re-used it for this DS9 episode. The shaky filming as the camera's moving, the radio-like sound, now THAT is how to create quality filming gold in the big screen, or in the small screen. It's like recycling, but with the media like TV, movies, radio, etc. Also, in the "Mirror Mirror" episode, they could've used a TOS double, because Kirk handing Sisko his report cut to Sisko's face, and that was another...
Hello..my name is Elisa and I am a Trekkie!!!
I LOVE Star Trek! Every single one of them! Of course the first Star Trek with William Shatner is a classic...wonderful episodes...my first introduction to the sci fi genre! I loved Star Trek Deep Space Nine, The Next Generation, etc. They are all so great! Gene Roddenberry was a genius! I just love watching all of these shows. The one I was a bit disappointed in is the newest Star Trek...the one with Scott Bakula as captain. It was supposed to be BEFORE William Shatner and them. I just really never could get too into that series, but I still watched it. I liked to look at stuff and see if I could find little mistakes or nuasances that are missed.:) Any other Trekkies out there???
Character actors/actresses, do you have favorites, do you admire the skill and
talent it takes to portray so many different roles and to do so with out ever becoming the leading man/woman? Emeraldisle has a great post about Gary Oldman's skill and talent, this got me to thinking about other talented actors and actresses who can change/ transform themselves for the roles/ characters they are portraying. Just wondering what are you opinions of such actors/actresses I think they enhance a movie and usually make the movie more of what it is than even the stars. Some favorite examples are of course Gary Oldman, and his many roles. Johnny Depp, who was on his way to being the pretty boy of the time, and choose instead to get away from becoming the new up and coming hot actor, to do more character roles, and his skill proved he made the right choice in such roles as Benny and June, Sleepy Hollow, Pirates of the Carribean, From Hell, Nick of Time. It was odd I never thought of myself as a Johnny Depp fan then I realized how many of his movies I really enjoyed, how many different characters he portrayed.Or Linda Hunt who has so much talent and should be doing so much more take her role in The Year of Living Dangerously, or Silverado, or Kindergarden Cop....
What do you consider the top science fiction shows from TV?
Can you list them in the order of your favorites, example 1 Babylon 5 2 Serenity 3 Star Trek 4 Star Trek Deep Space Nine 5 Heros

If Kitty Carlisle married Conway Twitty, she'd be Kitty Twitty. If Yoko Ono married Sonny Bono, she'd be Yoko Ono Bono. If Dolly Parton married Salvador Dali, she'd be Dolly Dali. If Bo Derek married Don Ho, she'd be Bo Ho. If Oprah Winfrey married Depak Chopra, she'd be Oprah Chopra. If Cat Stevens married Snoop Doggy Dogg (hey! it's the '90's!), he'd be Cat Doggy Dogg.If Olivia Newton-John married Wayne Newton, then divorced him to marry Elton John, she'd be Olivia Newton-John Newton John.If Sondra Locke married Elliott Ness, then divorced him to marry Herman Munster, she'd become Sondra Locke Ness Munster. If Bea Arthur married Sting, she'd be Bea Sting. If Liv Ullman married Judge Lance Ito, then divorced him and married Jerry Mathers, she'd be Liv Ito Beaver. If Snoop Doggy Dogg married Winnie the Pooh, he'd be Snoop Doggy Dogg Pooh. How about a baseball marriage? If Boog Powell married Felipe Alou, he'd be Boog Alou. If G. Gordon Liddy married Boutros-Boutros Ghali, then divorced him to marry Kenny G., he'd be G. Ghali G.Nog (Quark's brother on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine") has no other name, so he uses it twice when getting a marriage license. If he...
Which of the ST:TNG spinoffs or films is your favorite?
With the success of Star Trek:The Next Generation, itself a spinoff of Star Trek, Gene Roddenberry and Rick Berman ensured that the visionary view of the future would thrive in the vast wasteland of TV and capture the hearts of viewers. The series, which originally aired from 1987 to 1994, was followed by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, and four feature films.Of these, my favorite TV spinoff is DS-9, because it had a somewhat grittier, Ft. Laramie-in-Space feel to it and the relationships between characters was less idealistic than those created by Roddenberry. My favorite movie spinoff is First Contact. The other movies were okay, but First Contact was full of excitement and adventure...plus the evil Borg Queen!
Star Trek - Which One?
So what was your favorite series? Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Voyager, The Next Generation, or Enterprise? I don't think I am forgetting one, let me know if I am. But what was your favorite?
Which is the greatest film ever made?
I think it is the Titanic. The film was produced by Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment in conjunction with Paramount Pictures and 20th Century Fox. It is based on reality, though Cameron created several fictional characters, portrayed by Kate Winslet (Rose DeWitt Bukater) and Leonardo DiCaprio (Jack Dawson), who put flesh and blood on the skeleton of the story. She's a first class passenger, a socialite headed for a wedding in New York. He's an artist traveling home in steerage. They fall in love and seduce the audience. All of Cameron's films during the past 15 years have been ladened with innovative visual effects, including Terminator, Aliens, The Abyss, Terminator 2: Judgment Day and True Lies. All of them were fantasies, or in the case of True Lies, hyper-reality. The use of visual wizardry was blatant, like it was a character in the film.Titanic is different. Some 500 visual effects shots are skillfully weaved into the fabric of the story. They include starfields for night skies, wire removal for flying objects and falling people, simple two layer composites and about 160 "heavy duty" shots.Cameron said visual effects only had one purpose. He wanted the audience to see and...
